Individual Programmes in detail In Karnataka
Rural Ashraya:
This is a state government funded scheme for housing for the home installation for the houseless rural impoverished. The year-end pay frontier for the beneficiaries of this scheme is Rs. 11,800 only.
The beneficiaries are chosen by Ashraya Committees who select the beneficiaries from the list of houseless persons identified in Grama Sabhas. The financial assistance under the program is limited to Rs.20,000/- per recipient.
Urban Ashraya:
This is a state government aided scheme for housing for the houseless urban poor. The annual income boundary for the beneficiaries of this scheme is Rs. 11,800/-.
The beneficiaries are also selected by Ashraya Committees including both official and non-official members appointed by the government. The Committees elect the successors from the list of houseless persons identified by the municipal regional groups.
Special Occupation Groups:
This is a state government sponsored scheme for providing shelter for various EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) occupations such as beedi workers, hamals, artisans, weavers, fisherfolk, miners etc.
The Central Government has special housing schemes for occupational groups such as beedi worker, mineworkers, weavers etc.
House Sites:
- Rural House Sites:
This is a state government aided scheme for handing over sites to the site-less rural poor. The annual income limit for the beneficiaries of this scheme is Rs.11,800 only. The size of the site is 20*40. The site is given free of cost.
- Urban House Sites:
This is a state government funded scheme for giving plots to the site-less urban poor. The annual income limit for the beneficiaries of this scheme is Rs.11,800 only. The size of the site is 20*40. The site is given for free.
Gram Panchayat Housing Scheme:
Experimental Scheme of Housing for EWS in Gram Panchayat areas. The maximum financial assistance is Rs. 20,000/- (Including loan and Subsidy)
- The loan is Rs. 10,000/-
- Subsidy for general category beneficiaries Rs.10,000/- and for SC / ST beneficiaries Rs. 20,000/-.
The built-up area should be not less than 20 sq.mtrs.
Navagrama Housing Scheme:
The scheme will thoroughly alter the lives of the poor by expediting them to spur into new dwellings or village extensions developed through community action, funded through the convergence of Schemes with construction labour paid for through the SGRY Programme.
The “Nava Grama Ashraya Yojana” thus renders a structure for the union of Ashraya housing scheme and SGRY, appropriating funds and foodgrains under SGRY to provide for infrastructure for houses under Ashraya.
